Types of Voluneers

Side Walkers are responsible for the safety and engagement of the riders. This includes:

– Walking beside the rider, always within arm’s reach of the rider.
– Assist in keeping a balanced and secure position for the rider (sometimes with physical support)
– Hands-on support and/or verbal support and encouragement for games and lesson activities
– Assist rider with instructions and playing games

Horse Handlers are responsible for the horse during all TROtt programming, preparing the horse for the lesson, monitoring and leading the horse during classes, untacking and cleaning all horse tack. Horse Handlers will be responsible for:

– Leading horses as they navigate around the arena
– Tacking and grooming of the horse before and after lessons
– Assisting in keeping the horse still during mounting
and dismounting
– Communicating with side walkers to make sure
everyone knows when and where to walk

There are always new and exciting projects going on a TROtt both in programming and behind the scenes. Do you have a skill you would like to share with our office team? We would appreciate help in general office administration, planning, and more. We are happy to hear of any ways you would like to contribute to our team! You will have to attend our volunteer orientation but you do not have to do horse handling or side walker training.

Help keep our beautiful facility clean and safe for our horses, riders and volunteers. This position will include mucking paddocks and stalls, sweeping and miscellaneous cleaning throughout the barn, paddocks and arenas, preparing for events and facility maintenance all year round.

TROtt relies on the generous donations and sponsorships from our community to continue to offer our programming. We are always looking for volunteers to help our fundraising team with grant applications, fundraising initiatives, events and communications. Summer is our busiest time of year! Help us ensure all programming runs smoothly by volunteering in our summer camps, with riding lessons, and special events or programming.

Free volunteer opportunity to help with barn chores and maintenance keeping our space clean and safe for the horses and participants, as well as prepare for upcoming events.

Runs the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month.
